Meet our Staff

At Poul Haas Government Relations our staff are the backbone of our success. They work directly with clients to help us achieve our goals, from keeping everyone updated with weekly newsletters to scheduling meetings with legislators. They help us ensure we have a top notch bill tracking system and monitor committee hearings, House and Senate floor sessions, conference committee meetings and press conferences.

Yer Her Firm Coordinator

Yer handles all firm related needs. She oversees all our billing, firm document and policy management, financial tracking, special orders and keeps our conference room stocked with goodies for our visitors.

Prior to working with Poul Haas Government Relations, she worked as a Legislative Coordinator at another law firm and is an active political campaign organizer and volunteer in her St. Paul community. Yer is a graduate of the University of Minnesota Duluth with a B.S. in Biology.

Grace Altier Legislative Coordinator

Grace assists our lobbyists deliver excellent service to our clients. She is our point of contact for managing client meetings, scheduling, research, and is on the front lines monitoring everything taking place at the Capitol.

Grace graduated from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities in December 2021, with a B.A. in Political Science and History. After two legislative sessions as a Government Relations Specialist with another law firm, she joined the Poul Haas team. Grace is looking forward to assisting our clients and team in any way she can. Outside of work, Grace is a committed Minnesota Wild fan, she has been attending Wild games since the inaugural season in 2000 – Go Wild!

Laura Harris Association Management

We are pleased to welcome Laura Harris to the Poul Haas Team. Laura is leading our Association Management practice at the Firm and comes to this work with 25+ years of experience in state and local government relations, association management, and community engagement. She has spent her career connecting and mobilizing people to achieve meaningful impacts. She loves to imagine possibilities, build connections, and co-create solutions that make a difference. Laura has extensive experience developing and leading programs and designing effective learning experiences. She is a results-focused leader who helps organizations and communities bring big ideas to life.

Laura recently co-led a community relations campaign with the City of Bloomington, MN in support of the United States’ bid to host the 2027 World Expo. She has spent most of her career in public service, including sixteen years at the League of Minnesota Cities, where she worked as a lobbyist with the Intergovernmental Relations team and later managed the League’s Learning and Events department for more than a decade. Laura was also a policy advisor to Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura and served as a committee administrator for the Government Affairs, Veterans and Elections Committee in the Minnesota House of Representatives.

As the Director of Association Management, Laura strives to provide value for each association we manage and nurture relationships that help your members prosper and your association grow. This role requires creativity, attention to detail, and exceptional problem-solving skills. Laura’s daily work includes executing the plans, goals, objectives, and directives of the associations contracted with our firm for professional management services. She leads strategic planning, board and committee management, administration of day-to-day association operations, education and event management, and the coordination of all services necessary to comply with association bylaws, policies, and state and national rules and requirements.
